Intro to studio lighting.
A practical day in the studio for photographers who want to understand light and feel confident setting it up themselves. We'll keep it clear, hands on and give you plenty of time behind the camera.

- One-day group workshop
- 9:30am–4:30pm
- Beginner to intermediate
- One model to photograph
A few looks from my shoots.
Selected portraits from my own work, showing different ways light can shape an image.
What you'll work on.
We'll start with what each light is doing, then put it into practice. You'll have time to move the lights, make decisions and see the difference in your images.
- Understand the direction and quality of light, and when to use different sources.
- Try three-point lighting, soft light, hard light and simple creative setups.
- Photograph a model with guidance and feedback as you work.
- Leave with practical lighting ideas you can try again in your own shoots.
A good place to start.
This is for photographers new to studio lighting, and for anyone who has used lights but still feels unsure why a setup works. No previous studio lighting experience is needed. The group is kept small so you can ask questions and get hands-on help.
Just your camera.
Bring a DSLR or mirrorless camera with manual controls and something to take notes with if you like. Studio lighting and a model are provided.
